In 1971 after having seen the work of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, Mark bought his first camera. First it was a 35mm camera, but he quickly came to understand large format was the way to go if he was to achieve the fine detail and creamy smooth tones that had attracted him to photography in the first place.
In 1974, Mark studied with Ansel Adams at his Yosemite National Park workshop. Many subsequent trips to Yosemite National Park and the West marked the beginning of a passion for “seeing” that continues to the present.
Since 1980 Mark has earned his living as an architectural photographer in Miami, Fl. His black and white work is collected by individuals world-wide and is part of permanent collections at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Miami Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, Berkshire Museum and Cincinnati Museum of Art.
Today Mark prints through the digital media. This allows further control unachievable with silver, while maintaining the very tonal qualities that brought him to photography years ago.
